Smart is ahead of Globe in delivering better mobile experience according to Open Signal

According to its Philippines Mobile Network Experience Report September 2019, covering the period May 1 to July 29, Smart was able to lead four categories: Video Experience, Download Speed Experience, Upload Speed Experience, and Latency Experience.

For the 4G Availability, meanwhile, both telcos ended up in a draw.

Smart's Video Experience score was 47.6, higher than Globe's 30.4. For the Download Speed Experience, Smart recorded 9.4 megabits per second (Mbps) compared to the competition's 6.5 Mbps.

Smart's Upload Speed Experience stood at 3.3 Mbps, still better than Globe's 1.7Mbps. Latency Experience, meanwhile, which is measured in milliseconds and refers to the delay users experience as data makes a round trip through the network, Smart booked 61.9ms Mbps, ahead of the Ayala-led telco's 64.2ms.

These results are a testament to Smart’s commitment to continuously improve and expand our network across the country in order to support our customers' growing appetite for mobile data, said Mario G. Tamayo, PLDT-Smart senior vice president for Network Planning and Engineering.

Pangilinan-led PLDT attributed these results to its continuous network buildup across the Philippines.

As of end-June, PLDT’s total fiber infrastructure reached 283,000 kilometers, supporting Smart’s mobile network by providing high-capacity links to its more than 19,000 LTE base stations.
