Exynos 980 for Vivo phones

To recall, Exynos 980 is the world's first chipset with an integrated 5G modem with multi-mode capabilities, sub-6GHz speed, and an enhanced NPU.

It's a chip based on the 8nm FinFet process based on 2x Cortex-A77 CPU cores and 4x Cortex A55 cores. For 5G, it has 2.55-gigabits per second (Gbps) in sub-6-gigahertz (GHz) 5G.

Aside from 5G, Vivo aims to improve its AI game further with the help of this new chipset. Samsung's new chip has up to 2.7x performance versus the previous-gen Samsung AI-ready chip.

Since Exynos 980 is also the first with up to 108MP camera support, it is a bit safe to speculate that the Vivo phone might also use that massive camera sensor.

The partnership makes Vivo the first confirmed company to use the new Exynos 980 chipset. We just don't know when we will see it on its phones yet.

Exynos 980 is expected to be available on smartphones as early as 2020.
