A Japanese firm has called on Filipinos to stop using the word "Xerox" as equivalent for copying documents.
Fuji Xerox' notice to the public

Fuji Xerox Co. Ltd., a known manufacturer of photocopying machines, published a notice on a Filipino newspaper informing the public that it was wrong to use "Xerox" when referring to copying or copying services.

Not just another word for copy...

The company argued "Xerox" is either a verb nor a common noun. It also reminded the public that the word is a registered trademark protected by law.

Fuji Xerox stressed that unauthorized use of the word without permission of the trademark holder would be punishable by law.

So please don't use the word "XEROX" as another word for "copy", Fuji Xerox said.

Fuji Xerox focuses on producing and selling xerographic and document-related products and services in the Asia-Pacific region.

To our readers, be careful next time. "Pa-xerox naman po!" no more!
