Samsung unveils new premium processor and new 5G modem!

First up is the new Exynos 990 mobile processor with the Mali-G77 MP11 GPU promises to offer 20 percent overall performance boost from its powerful and flexible tri-cluster CPU structure made up of two 5th-generation custom CPU, two high performance Cortex-A76 cores and four power efficient Cortex-A55 cores. An additional dual-core NPU enables localized AI to process data on-device which improve performance, facial recognition, and scene detection.

The Exynos 990 also supports LPDDR5 data rates up to 5,500 megabits per second, 120Hz refresh-rate display driver, supports up to six indiviual image sensors that can go up to 108MP.

Next up is the first ever 5G modem built on the 7nm EUV process, the 5G Exynos Modem 5123. It supports all networks from 5G's sub-6GHz and mmWave spectrum to 2G GSM/CDMA, 3G WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, HSPA and 4G LTE and supports 8-carrier aggregation. This delivers downlink speeds of up to 5.1-gigabits per second.

This new processor and modem are expected to be mass produced by the end of the year which could indicate that the new processor and modem be used in upcoming 2020 smartphones.
