PS5 is coming!

According to Sony, the company will launch the PlayStation 5 in Holiday 2020. It will feature a new controller with haptic technology and adaptive triggers.

Sony said that one of its goals with its new controller is to "deepen the feeling of immersion" when playing games. The company explored how the sense of touch could help in improving that immersion.

The first thing that Sony added is the
haptic feedback to replace the "rumble" technology of its older controllers to let you feel a broader range of feedback. The company said that it the likes of a car crashing into the wall will feel different than the tackle on the football field and it can even allow you to sense a variety of textures when running through fields of grass or plodding through mud.

Next is the adaptive triggers in the L2/R2 buttons. It can allow developers to program the resistance of the triggers so that you feel the tactile sensation. For example, it can let you feel the tactile sensation of drawing a bow and arrow or accelerating an off-road vehicle through rocky terrain.

Basically, what Sony aims here is to bring a more realistic gaming experience.

Wired also confirmed that the upcoming PS5 will have
ray-tracing techniques through GPU hardware and a speedy HDD for storage.

Physical games for the PS5 will use 100-GB optical disks, inserted into an optical drive that doubles as a 4K Blu-ray player as well.

Are you guys excited?
