The next-generation 5nm monster chip?

According to a report from China, a chipset with the codename "Baltimore" will be dubbed as the Kirin 1020 and it will be a monster compared to the current Kirin 990. How? It is tipped to have 50 percent better raw performance versus the latter.

The chipset is rumored to be based on the upcoming 5nm manufacturing process with newly-designed Cortex-A78 cores by ARM.

Having said that, there's a chance that Huawei will skip the current Cortex-A77 cores for the more futuristic Cortex-A78 cores.

While it is still early to tell, if true, the Kirin 1020 should be more powerful than the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.

Like the Kirin 990, the rumored Kirin 1020 is expected to launch with the Mate 40 Pro in September or October of 2020.

For now, let's take this news with a grain of salt.

Are you guys excited?
