After the success of the S10 series in 2019, the Korean giant greets the new decade with the major renaming of the S-series. The next-generation S-series is now called the S20 and not the S11.

Samsung Galaxy S20 series comes in three variants, the S20, the S20+, and the S20 Ultra.

Common specifications from the three models are the Dynamic AMOLED display with 120Hz, Exynos 990 chipset, LPDDR5 RAM, microSD card slot, Wireless Power Share, Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and IP 68 water and dust resistance.

Let's take a look at Samsung's three new smartphones.

Note: As of this writing, we only received the smartphone itself without a box and its inclusions. We will update this section once a full retail unit becomes available.

Disclaimer: The following images and videos are taken using a pre-production unit that may not directly reflect the end-production experience of the devices that will be commercially available.

Build Quality/Design

All three models are made of glass and metal with the front and rear panel curving to the side that is accented by the metal frame and metal trim. This has been a consistent design language from Samsung's flagship over the years and this iteration is the most polished that results in one of the most beautiful and stunning phones we've seen. This is because of the premium materials used, the prism effect and refinement in design.

At the back of the phone has been simplified. All you will see are the curved glass panel, camera module, Samsung branding, and the prism color effect.

All three phones feature a large HDR10+ certified Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch rate that take over almost all of the front of the phone with razor-thin bezels and a smaller punch hole.

Like in the Note10 series, all of the physical buttons have been placed on the right side. This resulted in the S20 series having a smooth left side while the right side has the metal volume rocker and the metal Bixby button. This also means that there is a power button on the notifications panel. Don't worry. Like the Note10 series, you can remap the Bixby Button to the Power button.

There is NO more 3.5mm headphone jack on the S20 series. If Samsung chooses to copy the Note10 series, there will be an included USB Type-C in-ear earphones in the box.

All three models feel incredibly sturdy because of how solid and sturdy the metal frame and the glass feels on the hand.

The S20 series comes with 25W and 40W adaptive fast charging support. It charges wirelessly even faster with Fast Wireless Charging 2.0. Wireless Power Share also returns from the S10 and Note10 series.

1. The Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra are some of the most beautiful smartphones we've seen so far. The curved panels with the polished metal frame and metal trimming elevate the design that makes the series stand-out.

In front of the S20 series smartphones are the aforementioned HDR10+ certified Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch rate in different sizes.

Samsung Galaxy S20+ - 6.7-inch at 525 ppi 120Hz refresh rate
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra - 6.9-inch at 511 ppi 120Hz refresh rate

All three have a 20:9 "Cinematic" aspect ratio.

And even though the Ultra has a massive tablet-sized display, it never felt unwieldy nor was it hard to hold with one hand.

S20 and S20+
S20 and S20+

In recent years, it has become incredibly difficult for smartphones to stand out as more and more manufacturers are able to compete with the best of the best. BUT Samsung has managed to differentiate itself with the new innovations in software and in hardware that is found in the S20 series.

Noteworthy features include the 120Hz display, the Super Resolution Zoom up to 100x, and the 108MP main camera (of the S20 Ultra).
