China seen to take countermeasures vs US

China's clash against the US government continued after the Trump administration decided to block global chip supplies to technology giant Huawei.

Its foreign ministry called out the recent action of the US government on Friday, hitting Huawei anew with its order to cut off the Chinese firm from chip suppliers.

The foreign ministry also said the American government must stop the "unreasonable suppression" of Chinese companies.

The Chinese government would not remain silent as it was already planning to take a series of countermeasures versus the US to protect its companies' legal rights amid the raging trade war.

China will take forceful countermeasures to protect its own legitimate rights, a source, who has knowledge on the matter, was quoted by China's Global Times newspaper.

Beijing may also decide to put US companies under "unreliable entity list" and impose restrictions on groups like Apple Inc., Cisco Systems Inc., and Qualcomm Inc.

Exactly a year ago when the US government focused its eyes on Huawei, banning the latter from selling their technology to the US.

Its Department of Commerce also followed suit as it included Huawei on a blacklist, hindering the firm to do business with American companies. It also put Huawei on its "Entity List", signaling the need for US firms to secure a special license to sell products to the Chinese company.
