After showcasing 5G to select Platinum customers back in February 2020, the company also announced that it plans to launch its 5G network in the coming weeks and it will make the service available to more Platinum and Postpaid mobile users who are within the 5G coverage areas.

Globe also noted that it will launch more affordable 5G-capable smartphones in the market soon to make the service more accessible to more consumers.

To recall, 5G is so much faster than and better than 4G. This technology is designed to power the Internet of Things (IoT) intelligent homes and make internet speedier for enhanced entertainment, augmented reality, gaming, security systems, and more.

Globe is doing this in solidarity with Filipinos who are on their way to getting back on their feet. In response to what seems to be increased dependence on digital among our mobile customers, we want to make the 5G experience progressively available to more of our mobile customers at the soonest possible time. As we all look forward to better days, 5G will definitely hasten the digital transformation in the country as businesses, the government, and its people move towards digitalization., said Albert De Larrazabal, Globe’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Back in 2019, Globe is the first telco company in the country and Southeast Asia to introduce 5G technology after launching the AirFiber to its broadband customers.
