LCS Group completes first common tower in PH

Located in Caoyan, Ilocos Sur, LCS Group is now leading the local tower sharing market, which the government opened to investors in hopes of boosting telco services.

Singson's firm teamed up with Thai tech group Ua Withya Public Co. Ltd. to build the common cell site, which was completed last April 28.

Politician Luis Chavit Singson earlier told BusinessMirror the company was targeting to establish at least 50,000 in the next 10 years.

Currently, the Philippines has only more than 17,000 cell sites. The government eyes fueling the market with 50,000 towers.

Dominant players PLDT and Globe had long blamed red tape in the slow deployment of cell sites across the Philippines, noting at least 20 permits are needed to construct one tower.

The government's initiative started in late December 2018, opening the market to potential common tower builders. Once they secure a business contract with telco carriers—PLDT, Globe Telecom, and Dito Telecommunity—they would receive assistance from the government.
