TrueDot, TrueCapsule, and TrueFree+

They are compelling TWS audio devices that provide great performance without taking much cash from your pockets. Here is what we think of them. Read on.

SoundPEATS TrueCapsule

The SoundPEATS TrueCapsule package covers all the essentials: the TrueCapsule, charging case, charging cable, documentation, and 2 additional pairs of replacement tips.

Usually, there are more options for the tips but take note that the small, medium and large tips cover most users. The charging case is, by its name, comes in the shape of the capsule and the size makes it easy to pocket and grasp.

With the Bluetooth 5.0 drivers, you are able to enjoy fast connectivity and automatic pairing. The sync up of the buds is quite quick as well.

The battery life of the buds runs about 4 hours before there is a need to charge it. Given that it runs between the 3 to 5 hours range, which is the average on the price range, we can consider the performance to be above par. The sound quality is great but not exceptional.

Noise-canceling is implemented more on the hardware than any software implementation. The TrueCapsule has a distinct sound that is focused on clarity than anything else.

It was not specifically designed for athletic activities but it can get the job done. The microphone works well at canceling ambient sounds not directed at them.

Gesture control may be the only concern here as there is no slide gestures leading to a number of actions to be defined by taps and touch durations. Though not really a problem, it does take a little getting used to.

Overall, it would be an amazing choice for those looking for a great audio companion without breaking the piggy bank.

SoundPEATS TrueDot

Similar to the TrueCapsule, the TrueDot comes with a capsule-like charging case, 2 additional replacement buds, documentation, and charging cable. The case is definitely the smallest of the three. It also comes in as the cheapest in the selection.

The charging case lacks any battery indicators except for charging LED right beside the mini USB socket. The overall design of the buds is not exceptional and can be seen in rival brands. The oval shape which rests and fits on my ear easily is small but doesn't dislodge and move around easily.

Quick thoughts

Soft-touch controls are very convenient given the small size. The flat oval interface does provide a quickly identifiable area to apply different operations. Take note though that each bud as specific functionalities.

The battery would last for about 4 hours and can be charged 3 additional times with the case. The charging time for the case is quite slow though which is something to take note of choosing an audio travel companion.

The Bluetooth 5.0 drivers allow quick pairing and seamless sync and transmission. The mic is a bit problematic since it does not apply any active noise canceling.

The device utilizes a pair of 7.2 mm dynamic drivers which are fairly standard for the price range. The sound quality is good, no doubt about it. However, It does lack the bass punch that a lot of people are looking for.

For the price, it did a good job overall.

SoundPEATS TrueFree+

The TrueFree+ comes with the charging case, 2 additional replacement buds, charging cable, and user documentation. This is a very standard package set and provides all the necessary utilities.

The case has a layered texture lid which is a pretty slick design. It is surprisingly lightweight given the visual size. Of all the other TWS charging cases, this is by far the biggest visually. However, the size doesn’t burden you to when you put it in your main pocket or bag.

The buds’ design is capsule-shaped and actually fits well. The replacement buds can be used to further improve the fit and, thus, provide better passive noise canceling.

SoundPEATS TrueFree+ Specs

Driver: Dynamic driver
Battery: Up to 4 hours battery per earpiece, up to 35 hours w/ case
Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.0
Others: Microphone, Voice Control, Song Playback, IPX4 water splash resistance
Weight: 3.4 g per earbud

Quick thoughts

The buds' battery life lasts a little over 4 hours and change be charged 9 times with the case. This is an amazing feature that extends your usage time. This gives you more listening time within the day without worrying about your charging case losing much juice.

The TrueFree+ uses Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. This is pretty much standard nowadays. Along with that, you can enjoy quick sync and pairing, and longer connection distance.

Surprisingly, the TrueFree+ sounds amazing. The audio is clear, crisp, and enough bass to be appreciated. It can also be really loud without distorting the sounds.

Audiophiles out there may rate this as an "OK" TWS. But given the price, and what I have experienced, the audio quality along with the above par battery life and improved connectivity makes the TrueFree+ a highly recommended TWS audio companion for all your listening needs.
