Huawei nova 7i has a 3D curved glasstic material at the back with a metal frame and a polycarbonate layer to hold the 2.5D curved glass display. There is no water-resistance or Gorilla Glass protection mentioned, but Huawei mentioned a special manufacturing process for scratch resistance. It also has a red rubber ring indicating that it has protection against water splashes.

The new POCO X3 NFC features a unique-looking 3D curved back design with distinct patterns and camera island. It also has am aluminum frame and IP53 water splash resistance.

In the looks department, they both look great with similar shiny and vibrant color choices.

POCO X3 NFC is the first smartphone in the world with the .23GHz 8nm Snapdragon 732G octa-core processor with Adreno 618, 6GB LPDDR4X RAM, up to 128GB UFS 2.1 expandable storage, and a 5,160mAh battery with USB-C 33W fast charging that can charge the phone to 100 percent in 65 minutes.

nova 7i is clearly ahead in the chipset department as it has a more powerful 7nm SoC solution. It also has a bigger RAM size and faster-charging speeds. Meanwhile, POCO X3 NFC has a bigger battery capacity.

Cameras - The Huawei Nova 7i has a quad-camera setup with 48MP f/1.8 w/ PDAF, CAF, + 8MP f /2.4 120-degree ultra-wide-angle + 2MP f/2.4 4cm macro + 2MP f/2.4 depth with LED flash. It also has a 16MP f/2.0 selfie sensor.

The POCO X3 NFC has a quad-camera setup with a 64MP f/1.8 Sony IMX682 main cam, 13MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, 2MP f/2.4 macro camera, and 2MP depth camera. It also has a 20MP f/2.2 selfie camera.

In terms of main camera specs, POCO X3 NFC takes the lead with a better quad-camera system. It also has a bigger 64MP main camera sensor. Both devices have a variety of sensors for different scenarios.

For selfies, 20MP is still higher than the nova 7i's 16MP sensor.

Our thoughts

As expected, it is a good match between the two phones. Based on specs, the Huawei nova 7i is still a very formidable foe several months after its March 2020 PH release. In fact, the speed advantage still goes to the nova 7i.

But, the POCO X3 NFC is more feature-rich for less. It's the most affordable with a 120Hz display and 64MP Sony cam. SD732G is no slough either especially at its lower asking price.
