The report added that Nokia phones lead across the price tiers in providing the fastest software and security updates. HMD's devices are also first in providing the latest software updates across their portfolio and they have the lead in build quality by applying tougher tests than the industry average.

From Q3 2018 to Q2 2020, Nokia updated 100 percent of its 20 devices to Android 10. It is followed by OnePlus with 7 devices updated to Android 10 at a 100 percent rate. The rest of the brands all failed to have a 100 percent update rate. These include Samsung with 89 percent, realme with 73 percent, Xiaomi with 68 percent, Huawei with 66 percent, OPPO with 50 percent, Lenovo with 36 percent, LG with 25 percent, and vivo with 24 percent.

The other brands not included in the top 10 only got a 16 percent update rate score.

For security patches, only Nokia has a 100 percent update score in the same period.
