For Q3 2020, Samsung recorded its highest smartphone profit share globally in 6 years. It even beat other brands in specific regions as well.

Samsung beats Apple in US, Xiaomi in India

The South Korean tech company even beat Apple in the US as well as Xiaomi in India. It is also closing in on Apple in terms of smartphone profit share. In numbers, Samsung got a profit share of 32.6 percent in Q3 2020 compared to 18.8 percent from Q3 2019. This is the highest profit share it got since recording 37.9 percent back in Q2 2014. 

Apple is still the world's most profitable brand with a 60.5 percent profit share. However, this number is way below last year's profit share at 66.9 percent. Samsung also reported a growth in operating margin in Q3 2020 at 14 percent compared to 11 percent in the same quarter last year.

Similarly, Samsung also reported 22.6 percent in terms of global smartphone revenue while Apple reported 29.5 percent for Q3 2020. Samsung also reported 21.9 percent in overall market share which is higher than Huawei (14.1 percent), Xiaomi (12.7 percent), and Apple (11.9 percent).
