Counterpoint: iPhone 12 is the best-selling 5G phone in the world

According to the latest data published by Counterpoint Research, Apple's iPhone 12 became the world's number 1 selling 5G handset in the world within two weeks of its October launch.

The Global Top 10 5G Smartphone Models' Sales Market Share October 2020 data of Counterpoint Research shared that the iPhone 12 captured 16 percent of the pie for the number 1 spot while the iPhone 12 Pro has 8 percent.

For the number 3 spot, the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G captured 4 percent of the market share. Huawei nova 7 5G, Huawei P40 Pro 5G, OPPO A72 5G, and Huawei P40 Pro 5G all captured 3 percent of the market share.

Then, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G, Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G, and OPPO Reno4 SE all got 2  percent of the pie to complete the top 10 5G phones list.

Counterpoint noted that this early success of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro is due to the large pent-up demand for the 5G upgrade complemented by strong carrier promos. Plus, unlike most 5G smartphones that only have a regional presence, the iPhone 12 is available in over 140 countries.

Also, 5G iPhones have the mmWave 5G support which helps in unlocking the true potential of 5G.
