HONOR x Google?
If true, this is the first time that HONOR will launch a device with GMS after over 18 months.
Kommersant shared that the lack of Google has shaken HONOR's position in Russia where the brand is currently at the number 2 spot just behind Samsung.
Fast forward to January 2021, HONOR is not a part of Huawei anymore. This means that the US government will have no reasons to apply sanctions to the brand anymore.
Industry insiders told Russian online newspaper Lenta RU that the first HONOR device this year that might load with Google Services is the HONOR V40.
The report noted that old HONOR phones will still have GMS with AppGallery.
Originally, the device was scheduled to launch on January 18, but it was pushed to January 22. There are some speculations that HONOR postponed the event so they could ship the device with Google out of the box.
HONOR V40 is expected to boast a 120Hz 6.72-inch AMOLED screen, 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 1000+, 50MP triple-camera, and a dual front camera with either 32MP or 16MP main selfie sensor.
