New DOTA animation in the works for Netflix, to have 8 episodes

DOTA, the MOBA PC game we all love and hate, is getting an 8-episode animated series. It is called DOTA: Dragon's Blood and will be on Netflix.

Meet Davion the Dragon Knight

The animated series is slated for a March 25 release on Netflix. DOTA started as a modded map for the game Warcraft III. It then became a full-fledged, standalone MOBA when Valve picked it up to be DOTA 2. It became one of the top eSports titles in the world with tournaments having prize pools upwards of USD 10 million dollars.

DOTA: Dragon's Blood is a series that will feature Davion, also known as Dragon Knight. The game's lore it seems will be finally filled with details and storylines to flesh it out. Davion is only one of the 119 heroes seen in the trailer. A clip of Mirana was also sighted as well.

The executive producer is Ashley Edward Miller who worked on X-Men: First Class, Thor, and Black Sails. Studio MIR, a South Korean animation studio, will be tasked with animation. The studio is popular for its works on Legend of Korra, the Death of Superman, and Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge.
