Both Globe and PLDT have long started invested in their 5G rollout.
Globe was the first telco carrier who introduced 5G services to its home subscribers last July 2019. It then expanded its commercial service to mobile users.
We are inching closer to fulfilling the vision towards a #1stWorldNetwork. Creating a nation that thrives digitally begins with a robust network using the most advanced technologies and allowing our customers to fully experience our digital offers and solutions, said Ernest Cu, Globe's President and Chief Executive Officer.
Last month, Globe said its 5G network now covers 80 percent of Metro Manila.
It said it has already upgraded 884 locations in the capital, noting Bonifacio Global City, Makati and Ortigas Commercial Business Districts (CBDs) are nearing completion with coverage of 97 percent, 95 percent, and 97 percent, respectively.
San Juan, Pateros, Mandaluyong, Makati, Caloocan, Manila, Marikina, Pasig, and Quezon City are among the top nine cities with the most 5G outdoor coverage, it added.
