LG Electronics just announced this move and it is expected to disrupt an industry known for developing proprietary TV OS across different brands. This could both help the TV industry to have uniformity in terms of OS and functions while LG expands its presence and prominence in the global home entertainment market.

LG's webOS TV platform has delivered ease of use for LG TV owners since 2014. Those who get the license to use webOS TV receive the familiar and highly acclaimed UX design as well as smart features such as voice search and commands, AI algorithm, and easy connectivity. Licensees also get the opportunity to use a diverse library of streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, DAZN, and LG Channels.

As of now, there are 20 TV manufacturers that committed to the webOS partnership including RCA, Ayonz, and Konka among others. The webOS ecosystem is supported by technology partners such as Realtek, Nuance, Gracenote, CEVA, and Universal Electronics, among many others.
