nubia Red Magic 6 gaming phone line announced with up to 18GB RAM

nubia earlier introduced its newest gaming-focused smartphone of the year—the Red Magic 6 and Red Magic 6 Pro.

Red Magic 6

Both phones feature the Mecha Sci-Fi design using the carbon fiber texture with asymmetrical lighting in Carbon Fiber Black and Cyber Neon (Blue and Purple Gradient) as well as the Tencent logo.

The body also has a touch senstive triggers with a 400Hz touch sampling rate for minimizing input latency.

In front, it goes with a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a 165Hz adaptive refresh rate. These phones are the first in the industry with such tech. It also has up to 360Hz multi-touch sampling rate and up to 500Hz on-finger touch sampling rate as well as a support for 10-bit colors and an In-Display fingerprint reader.

Inside, the phones are powered by the 5nm Snapdragon 888 5G octa-core processor, up to 18GB LPDDR5 RAM (6 Pro Transparent Edition), and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage (6 Pro Transparent Edition).

This is the first time we are seeing 18GB of RAM on a smartphone for better multitasking and gaming experience.

Red Magic 6 uses a 5,050mAh battery capacity with 65W fast charging (0 to 100 percent in 38 minutes) while the Red Magic 6 Pro goes with a smaller 4,500mAh battery with a faster 120W fast charging (0 to 50 percent in 5 minutes).

Keeping the performance in check and stable is the Active Air Cooling Fan with 18,000 RPM and 20,000 RPM for the non-pro and pro models, respectively. The two also go with a copper heat sink for better cooling aside from the optional air cooling accessory.

For cameras, the 2 have a 64MP main + 8MP ultra-wide + 2MP macro triple-camera setup. For selfies, it has a single 8MP shooter.

The phones are now available for pre-orders in China and the first sale will be on March 11. The Redmi Magic 6 phones will be available to global markets soon as well.
