Huawei must treat the US as a teacher despite the ongoing tension
According to the company founder, Huawei should remain open and continue its expansion in international markets. Even though the United States keeps on pressing on its sanctions against it, Zhenfei thinks that the company must learn from it.
These sanctions were put into place by former US President Donald Trump which placed Huawei on an export Blacklist back in 2019. This move effectively barred the company from accessing critical US-origin technology that impeded the company's ability to design its own chips and source components from outside vendors.
Allegedly, the speech was posted on Huawei’s internal online forum last Saturday, a week before the Communist Party of China’s 100th anniversary this coming July 1. The CEO answered inquiries from employee representatives, including the challenges the company related with the restrictions from the US government.
In response to that question, Ren Zhengfei said that Huawei can learn from the said country since it's flexible and stronger in terms of science and technology. There's also a question if Huawei must focus on China then he gave an answer saying,
Is China a part of the world? Yes. Therefore, our insistence on globalization also includes the domestic market. We cannot be closed. We must stay open.
He explains that not recognizing the US as a teacher may lead to isolation. Also, someone asked about the increasing struggles Huawei is facing due to the rapidly changing international environment. The founder said challenges are the norm so they must continue to cooperate well with its international partners.
In this speech, Ren Zhengfei combined corporate strategies with philosophical languages, military terms, and references to the current social and cultural topics.
Last May, a Huawei internal memo leaked online which said that the Huawei founder called the company's staff to "dare to lead the world" by focusing on software.
