VALORANT Mobile announced!

League of Legends developer Riot Games launched VALORANT a year ago on June 2, 2020. At its first year anniversary, the developer announced that it is expanding the franchise and will start with 'VALORANT Mobile.' The company aims to bring the free-to-play competitive first-person shooter to more players around the world.

VALORANT is a free-to-play first-person hero shooter that was first teased in October 2019 as codename Project A. It then began to hold a closed beta with limited access on April 7, 2020, and soon released on June 2, 2020. The development of the game began in 2014. It features several games modes like Unrated, Spike Rush, Competitive, Deathmatch and Escalation. Currently, there are over 15 agents or hero characters that players can play as.

Polygon reports that it was able to sit down with VALORANT executive producer Anna Donlon. Donlon said that “We’re not trying to convert Valorant PC players into Valorant Mobile players or vice versa. [...] We’re absolutely just as committed to keeping the PC experience at the quality level it is or higher, and we’re not going to compromise it in order to address the mobile market.”

The executive also clarified that there are no plans for cross-play between the two versions of the game as of now. This could change in the future.

Donlon also said that “we’re not confirming dates, but hopefully that’s something we’ll be able to see in year two.” This means that we could see more details about the game by 2023. We'll just have to see.

What do you guys think?
