The portal is being tested for issuance of COVID-19 vaccination certificates
According to the source, the government agency aims to fully implement the new system for at least overseas Filipino workers in Metro Manila and other areas. DICT said that the Philippine government has administered 31,099,893 doses of COVID-19 vaccines as of speaking.
A few days ago, we reported that DICT developed the VaxCertPH app in compliance with the international standards from the World Health Organization.
To recall, the said agency relies on the data submitted by local government units through the Vaccine Information Management System (VIMS). For that reason, it urged local government units in the country to submit their list of residents vaccinated against COVID-19 for the digital vaccine certificate project.
During a congressional inquiry, Batanes Representative Ciriaco Gato Jr. asked the question if DICT will be implemented by October. As an answer to that question, DICT Undersecretary Emmanuel Caintic replied: "Yes, even outside NCR."
Moreover, Caintic made a clarification that what would happen in September is just a dry-run among overseas workers. The testing period will allegedly last for a few weeks. The DICT official added,
We will dry-run on NCR and specifically for OFWs po muna. Para lang po maperfect 'yung (This is just to perfect the) processes, not the system.
The VaxCertPH will be available through a web and mobile app so it can be used for issuing vaccination certificates for individuals who completed their dose.
