Lazada, Kwik.insure partner to provide FREE COVID-19 insurance to customers

E-commerce giant Lazada teamed up with Kwik.insure, a homegrown technology startup, to provide its customers with free COVID-19 insurance.

In a statement, Kwik.insure this is one way to further increase insurance penetration in the Philippines, especially with the current COVID-19 bout.

The partnership, it said, would allow Lazada customers to be eligible for FREE Coronavirus insurance—the COVID-19 Kwik Assist—when they pay their bills through the Lazada wallet.

The Kwik.insure product provides PHP 10,500 one-month coverage for accidental death, death due to sickness, and death due to COVID-19.

Through our partnership with Lazada, we provide millions of Filipinos the opportunity to have insurance against COVID-19. Given our country’s low insurance penetration rate, majority of them will be first-time insurance availers. The goal is to educate more people about the value of insurance and learn how easy it is to be protected, said Hamilton Angluben, Founder and CEO of Kwik.insure.

For his part, Carlos Barrera, Chief Operating Officer of Lazada Philippines, said the deal with Kwik.insure provides "our customers with access to a service that is most especially valuable and relevant today."

The promo will run until October of this year, and customers can earn up to 10 insurance vouchers per month.

Lazada allows customers to pay their bills to a variety of billers including Meralco, Maynilad, Autosweep, Easytrip, Globe, Smart, and many more.
