Xiaomi respects and protects the legal rights of its users!

In an earlier report by Reuters, the defense ministry of the Lithuanian government claimed that Chinese smartphones sold in Europe by Xiaomi have built-in censorship capabilities. These claims say that Xiaomi phones can detect and censor terms like "Free Tibet", "Long Live Taiwan Independence", and "democracy movement".

We personally tried these phrases on our Xiaomi smartphones using the stock browser and we did not experience any form of censorship.

Several hours later, Xiaomi officially responds to these accusations with the following statement sent to team GIZGUIDE:

Xiaomi's devices do not censor communications to or from its users. Xiaomi has never and will never restrict or block any personal behaviors of our smartphone users, such as searching, calling, web browsing or the use of third-party communication software. Xiaomi fully respects and protects the legal rights of all users. Xiaomi complies with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
