Globe aids Customers amid Indonesia earthquake
Globe Telecom is providing free calls, texts, and data services to customers in Indonesia following a magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck off the island of Flores in the eastern part of the country.
The earthquake caused widespread damage, including landslides, power outages, and damage to homes and public facilities. Thousands of residents have been displaced, and rescue and assessment operations are ongoing in the affected areas.
Under its Alagang Globe program, the telco is offering customers currently in Indonesia 15 minutes of incoming and outgoing calls, 15 texts to all networks, and 1 GB of data, valid for seven days at no additional cost. The company said the initiative is meant to help customers reach family members and share updates on their situation.
During emergencies, staying connected becomes even more important, especially for Filipinos who are away from home. We want to help our customers in Indonesia reach their loved ones and maintain vital lines of communication during this difficult time, said Paula Rivera-Castillo, Globe's Senior Director for International Business.
No registration is required. The free roaming package is automatically applied to eligible Globe customers detected in Indonesia. Customers need only connect to Globe's roaming partners, Telkomsel or Indosat, and will receive a confirmation message once the package is active.
To make a call, customers can dial "+" followed by the country code, area code, and phone number, or "+" followed by the country code and mobile number. To send a text, customers should enter "+" followed by the country code and mobile number.
To access the free 1 GB data allocation, customers should enable mobile data and data roaming in their phone settings once the package is activated. Postpaid customers are advised to turn on mobile data and data roaming only after receiving the activation message.
