Google Assistant to have "Quick Phrases" feature to activate without "Hey Google"

You won't need to say "Hey Google" at all times just to activate Google Assistant. Quick Phrases is a new feature from Google to simplify things!

Google introduces Quick Phrases for Assistant

You just need to simple say "Answer" or "Stop" to trigger Google Assistant

Google Assistant will soon respond to certain phrases without requiring the "Hey Google" step. According to a report, Quick Phrases is starting to roll out to Google Pixel 3 XL running the Android 12 beta. It may be a new Android 12 feature being tested before the OS release. The Google App version used to test Quick Phrases was 12.39.17.29.

To use Quick Phrases, users need to be activated from the Google Assistant settings. Once enabled, Google Assistant will start listening for certain context-sensitive phrases. For instance, when the user says "Stop" or "Snooze" when your alarm goes off, Google Assistant will obey those quick commands.

Other Quick Phrases examples include the following:

Set alarms - “Set an alarm for 7 a.m.”

Cancel alarms - “Cancel the alarm”

Show alarms - “What time is my alarm set for?”

Send broadcasts - “Send a broadcast”

Respond to calls - “Answer” & “Decline”

Ask about time - “What time is it?”

Ask about the weather - “What’s the weather?”

Turn lights on & off - “Turn the lights on”

Turn lights up & down - “Increase the brightness”

Control volume - “Turn up the volume”

Pause & resume music - “Pause the music”

Skip tracks - “Skip this song”

Set timers - “Set a timer for 2 minutes”

Cancel timers - “Cancel the timer”

Pause & resume timers - “Pause the timer”

Reset timers - “Reset the timer”

Show timers - “How much time is left?”

Reminders - “Create a reminder”

Family notes - “Create a family note”

The exact launch of the feature outside the Android 12 Beta is yet to be confirmed. We will update you as soon as we get more information.
