How to transfer WhatsApp data from iPhone to Samsung Galaxy smartphones

Here's how you can migrate your WhatsApp data from iOS to Samsung devices

WhatsApp Transfer feature can now securely transfer app chat history, photos, and other media shared from an iPhone to a Samsung device. It also migrates the user's account information, profile photo, individual chats, group chats, and settings. But, call history and display name are not included.

This feat was previously impossible to do. Transferring chat history from iOS to a Samsung device was not allowed before even if they were backed up via WhatApp's own cloud feature. Chats on iPhones were backed up in iCloud while those in Android are backed up via Google Drive.

The big thing to note here is that Galaxy phone users MUST use WhatsApp Transfer during the initial setup to get their data from their iOS device. Simply connect the Android devices to the iPhone via a USB-C-to-Lightning cable and follow the prompt on Samsung Smart Switch.

Then, a QR code will be displayed on the Samsung device that can then be scanned by the iPhone camera. Tap Start and wait for the process to complete. You can now finish setting up your WhatsApp on your new Galaxy smartphone. Once you log in with your existing WhatsApp number, the chats and other data will automatically appear.

The new Samsung device must have WhatsApp Android version 2.21.16.20 or newer, while the iPhone needs to have WhatsApp iOS version 2.21.160.17 or newer Samsung’s Smart Switch app version 3.7.22.1 or newer must also be installed on the new device. The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Z Flip3 5G come installed with the app’s latest version.

What do you guys think?
