New DITO cell sites to be deployed in Mindanao
According to Bangsamoro Transportation and Communications Minister Dickson Hermoso, the third telco player has started the construction of some of the cell sites.
Hermosa said the Ministry of Transportation and Communications is ready to provide assistance to the private sector's projects "that would result in a faster and more economical, reliable and secure flow of information in the BARMM".
Hermosa said connectivity remains a problem in the region, particularly in the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
Engr. Omar Marzoc, officer-in-charge of the Bangsamoro Telecommunications Commission, mirrored Hermosa's sentiment.
If they will be able to partner with us and we will be able to assist them in securing their permits and licenses, we might be able to hasten their intention to build more towers and investment in the BARMM, Marzoc said.
Last October 21, local officials met with DITO executives Rodolfo Santiago, chief technology officer, and lawyer Adel Tamano, chief administrative and legal officer.
