Ookla: Apple and Xiaomi makes the phones with the fastest median download speed in the Philippines (Q3 2021)

Ookla's latest report on the state of the internet in the Philippines also revealed the brands with the fastest median download speed last Q3 2021.

Apple on top, Xiaomi number 2!

Sitting comfortably ahead at number 1 is Apple with 27.71 Mbps Median Download speed, 5.47 Mbps Median Upload speed, and a Latency of 27ms. Apple has 3 of the phones with the Fastest Median Download speed—the iPhone 12 Pro (75.26 Mbps), 12 Pro Max 5G 74.77 Mbps), and 12 5G 73.77 Mbps).

At number 2 is fan-favorite brand Xiaomi with 21.76 Mbps Median Download speed, 5.94 Mbps Median Upload speed, and 23 Median Latency. Xiaomi has one (1) smartphone in the top 5 fastest, the Redmi K40 5G also known as POCO F3 (73.13 Mbps) at number 4.

In the number 3 spot, South Korean firm Samsung has 21.46 Mbps of Median Download speed. Its Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G (72.16 Mbps) is the fifth fastest device.

Tech titan Huawei is at number 4 with 15.67 Mbps Median Download speed despite not being allowed to release and make phones with 5G connectivity.

The Philippines' top mobile maker realme impressively made it to the top 5 for a 3-year-old brand with 13.90 Mbps Median Download speed. realme achieved this feat even most of its phones are found in the budget segement.

Ookla is getting the Median data instead of Mean as it best reflect the speed a user is likely to achieve in the market.
