The country's download speed reached 18.21 megabits per second (Mbps), faster than the 17.16 Mbps recorded a month earlier.

The report also revealed that Smart was the top mobile network operator in the period with a Speed Score of 59.71 on modern chipsets. The figure was significantly higher from rivals Globe and DITO, posting 28.38 and 25.34 Speed Score, respectively.

In the third quarter, Smart also had the lowest latency at 20ms. Globe had 25 ms, while DITO booked 24 ms.

Latency refers to the time it takes for information to be transmitted from the source to the receiver. So the lower the latency figure, the better.

In the 5G space, Smart kept its dominance as it recorded the fastest media download with 217.03 Mbps—a big lead from Globe's 114.12 Mbps.

However, the country fell in the fixed broadband ranking from 66th place in September to 71st spot in October.

Its download speed slightly fell to 45.52 Mbps from the previous 45.85 Mbps. Upload speed, meanwhile, was also slower last month at 37.16 Mbps.
