Smart claims leadership in 5G space: PH's fastest, most reliable network with 6,400 sites

The telco has been witnessing a spike in data traffic on its 5G network—almost 20x between the fourth quarter of 2022 and the third quarter of this year.

Smart also noted that it registered a three-fold jump in 5G data traffic in the first six months.

Proving the surge in data traffic, a report from YouGov, a London-based international research data and analytics group, stated that countries in the Asia Pacific region are the world's largest and quickest growing smartphone markets.

In the Philippines, Smart—the country's fastest and most reliable 5G network, delivering the most consistent and most available 5G service, according to Ookla—leads the way in 5G adoption and network deployment, the group said.

This, as Smart successfully deployed over 6,400 sites across the Philippines. Just last month, Smart started powering up its 5G Stand Alone sites in the country's financial hub Makati City.

Meanwhile, its main competitor Globe currently has more than 1,906 5G sites nationwide, as of end September.

Smart has urged mobile users to make the switch while keeping their existing numbers, as enabled by the Mobile Number Portability Act.
