TCI committed to addressing "roadblocks"

In an issued statement, TCI admitted that birth pangs were expected amid the telcos' differences in network infrastructure.

However, it stressed that the group is "actively working" to resolve the issues in the MNP process.

Some of the technical issues encountered following the end-September launch include port out rejections, unique subscriber code generation, enabling portability of virtual number operators, and airtime loading.

TCI said the said issues have been resolved immediately.

The group also noted that all mobile operators in the Philippines—Globe, Smart, and DITO Telecommunity—have been at the forefront to solve new issues.

As for market acceptance, we believe in the paramount objective of giving mobile customers the freedom to choose their providers. The MNP supports this objective, so we are leaving it to the customers to determine if they want to change providers or not, TCI said.

The group said it will continue to work with the mobile operators and regulatory bodies for the smooth implementation of the MNP.
