CES 2022: Samsung launches Odyssey Ark and Freestyle projector

Samsung revealed its largest curved monitor yet and a portable projector with Smart TV capability.

We'll both look into these two but let's all first take a look at the Samsung Odyssey Ark. It is a 55-inch curved screen with a special stand that lets users turn it on its side — meaning vertically, having the screen curve over the user's head.

But, take this as a pinch of salt because it's not a real product YET. Samsung is pitching the Odyssey Ark as a real product. The company is planning to bring it to the United States in the second half of 2022.

There are no other details about this monitor aside from its 16:9 aspect ratio and HAS (Height Adjustable Stand). We'll write news about this if Samsung decides to launch this as an actual product soon.

Moving into the next product, we have the Samsung Freestyle. It is the company's new portable screen and entertainment device. It also has a smart speaker and ambient lighting capabilities. 

Weighing at 830 grams, Samsung Freestyle has autofocus and auto-leveling features that help align when a user is watching. It can project content at a display size ranging from 30 to 100 inches with a 1080p resolution. It also has a 180-degree cradle stand so that the user can point it toward a ceiling and watch things while lying down.

It also uses a base accessory that can connect to a standard E26 lightbulb socket. Moreover, it has promising 360-degree audio and far-field voice control.

But what makes it portable? Samsung Freestyle has an optional waterproof case and portable battery. 

The Freestyle packs Samsung's Smart TV features including built-in streaming services like Netflix and mirroring and casting features compatible with both Android and iOS mobile devices.

There is no information about the Samsung Freestyle pricing. But it is available for pre-order in the US market on January 4. According to Samsung, the availability will be expanding to other global markets in the following months.

As mentioned earlier, Samsung Odyssey Ark is not an actual consumer product yet.
