12th Gen Alder Lake Mobile CPU

The new generation of processors from Intel!

The new Alder Lake mobile CPUs are divided into three models—the H series with 45W TDP, the P-series with 28W TDP, and the U-series with 15W power draw. Intel's new laptop CPUs are based on the latest hybrid architecture with heterogeneous cores. The Intel Core i9-12900HK with a clock speed of 5GHz is the fastest mobile processor among those as Intel boldly claims.

There are 7 chipsets that make up the H-series high-performance series. The flagship Core i9-12900HK chip is joined by the Core i7-12800H and the Core i7-12700H that come with six performance cores and eight efficiency cores. In addition, the Intel Core i7-12650H has six performance cores and just four efficiency cores to choose from. Four performance cores and eight efficiency cores are featured in the Intel Core i5-12600H and Core i5-12500H processors. Lastly, with the Intel Core i5-12450H, you'll find four performance and efficiency cores.

Meanwhile, the new P-series chipsets were designed for thin and light laptops with power ratings ranging from 28W to 64W. This includes six models ranging from the Intel Core i7 1280P to the Intel Core i3-1220P, with six, four, or two performance cores, eight efficiency cores, and integrated graphics with up to 64 to 96 EUs.

For the U-series, there are also variants of Core i3, i5, and i7 as well as the Pentium Gold and Celeron chipsets. These ranged from 9W to 29W or 15W to 55W. The U-series 12th Generation Intel Core chips have one or two performance cores and four or eight efficiency cores. These will be aimed at ultra-portable laptops, such as foldable and fanless devices that run Windows or Chrome OS.
