Globe's network deployment to generate more jobs

In a statement, the telco said network upgrades could create more jobs, expand businesses while improving Filipino consumers' digital experience.

Globe, with its businesses going beyond telco, said it is committed to ramping up activities across its portfolio this year.

This, as the Philippine economy grew by 5.6 percent for full-year 2021, was driven by a strong last quarter performance when the government implemented looser COVID rules.

Globe is a constant ally of Filipinos as we collectively face a persistent pandemic. They can count on us to provide products and services that support their needs in the midst of our changed reality when most of our activities have gone virtual. We will continue to build, innovate and make our products and services more accessible. With all of the Globe Group, we will win as one on the road to a new and better normal, said Ernest Cu, Globe President and Chief Executive Officer.

Globe has been strengthening the presence of its other businesses, including mobile wallet GCash, telehealth provider KonsultaMD, and online grocery platform PureGo.

The company also vowed to continue its network rollout and upgrades as Filipinos continue to rely on internet connectivity for work, businesses, and school.

Despite COVID restrictions, Globe built 1,407 new cell sites last year. It also upgraded and expanded 22,300 mobile sites, and installed over 2,000 5G outdoor sites and in-building solutions (IBS) during the said period.

Globe’s telco business has over 8,200 employees, while the Globe Group, its ever-expanding family of businesses, has seen steady growth in recent years, with its workforce now at 15,417.
