This shows a ray of hope that Huawei may be coming back to the premium space again with more than the P-series in tow. Last year, the Huawei P50 series was the only premium lineup announced instead of having the Mate series smartphones accompany it a few months after. Now, with the confirmation of the Mate 50 series, this bodes well for both the Chinese Giant and the consumers.

Changzhou confirmed this in a community thread where he answered a Huawei fan expressing hope that the Mate 50 is part of the company's MWC 2022 announcements. Changzhou stated that the Mate 50 will be coming but not at this moment. He also said that even if the Mate 50 series does not debut during MWC 2022, the company will be launching intriguing devices during the event.

The lack of the Mate series launch last year is greatly attributed to the trade restriction posted on Huawei. The Mate 50 series could also feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processors according to rumors. However, the 4G LTE lock will still be in play with the US banning the company from using 5G.
