Black Shark 5 Series and accessories announced with beastly gaming features

Three Black Shark smartphones were unveiled today, all of which are equipped with interesting gaming features.

The Black Shark 5 Pro

Black Shark 5 series announced!

First among the series is the Black Shark 5 Pro, it is the top-end of the group as well with its 6.67-inch FHD+ 10-bit AMOLED panel that supports HDR10+, DCI-P3 color gamut, 120Hz refresh rate, and 720Hz touch sampling rate.

The Pro's features

At the helm, it is equipped with 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with next-gen Adreno GPU. It comes with up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. However, it doesn't end with just that as Black Shark added an interesting take on its Storage and RAM.

The storage is equally split between an NVMe SSD and the standard UFS 3.1 file system. As an example, it could go with 256+256 for the 512GB model. Additionally, the brand was able to significantly improve the read and write performance of the phone through the DM Cache technology. Also, for situations when even quicker storage is necessary, the LPDDR5 RAM can also be used to form a RAM disk.

On the other hand, its battery has a 4,650mAh capacity with a superfast 120W power adaptor. Based on the brand's claim it reaches 100 percent within 15 minutes only. However, there is a temperature management mode that is gentler on the battery and reduces the charging time to 24 minutes. The phone also has a battery bypass capability for gaming while using external power.

It has a triple camera system, it is using 108MP main followed by a 13MP ultra-wide-angle and a 5MP macro shooter.

Other features mentioned are magnetic shoulder buttons that pop up on the corners of the phone and use a gaming-grade microswitch. There are also two symmetrical speakers with 1.5cc cavities, an X-axis linear motor for enhanced feedback, and four microphones on the phone's four corners to ensure that your voice is always clearly picked up.

The Black Shark 5 RS

The next phone will be the Black Shark 5 RS, it goes with 6.67 AMOLED as well with similar details to the Pro version, the only difference, however, is that has a slightly lower HDR10 screen.

Inside, it carries the 2.84GHz 4nm Snapdragon 888+ SoC with Adreno 660 GPU. It is paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage and carries the same splitting SSD and UFS technology.

The RS's features

For its battery, it's also a little lower with the 4,500mAh and has a 120W super-fast charging solution.

It also has a triple camera setup but with a lower 64MP for main, although the 13MP ultrawide and 5MP for macro were retained.

Other features are the two magnetic shoulder triggers, dual speakers with HiRes Audio, and DTS:X Ultra support.

The Black Shark 5

The third smartphone from the series is the vanilla Black Shark 5. It uses a 6.67 AMOLED screen with the same details as the others. 

This time it is equipped with a 7nm Snapdragon 870 with Adreno 650 GPU. As for the RAM it has 8GB or 12GB options however the SSD is removed but the UFS 3.1 storage is retained with options of 128GB or 256GB.

The Black Shark 5 features

It has a battery of 4,650mAh capacity and 120W charging that finishes within 15 minutes, it also shares the same safety features as the Pro that goes gently on the battery making it 24 minutes to finish the charging. It also has a Battery bypass feature.

Its cameras, it has an identical setup to the RS model with a 64MP main, 13MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro shooter.

For the software side, the vanilla version and the Pro runs JoyUI 13 based on Android 12. Meanwhile, the RS version comes with the tad older Joy UI 12.8

Black Shark accessories

The brand also announced various accessories such as Black Shark Wireless buds based on the Snapdragon sound platform with 12mm drivers, ANC, 85ms low latency, IPX4 splash-proof, and wear detection. Its battery has a total of 30 hours overall with a fast-charging case that gives 3 hours of usage within 15 minutes of charging.

Blackshark also released GaN chargers with options of either 120W or the lower 30W.

Lastly, they also released a thermally conductive case and attachable radiator cooling fan for further cooling on the phones.

As for the availability, all three smartphones and accessories begin their sale on April 2 in China. Also if you deposit CNY 100 now you will get the cooling fan for free. Unfortunately, there's no word yet for the availability of the Blackshark 5 Series here in the Philippines.
