MWC 2022: Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 5G Modem with up to 10Gbps download speeds launched!

Qualcomm has launched the next-generation 5G modem for smartphones with up to 10Gbps download speeds at MWC 2022.

At Mobile World Congress, Qualcomm officially announces its next-generation 5G modem for smartphones called the Qualcomm Snapdragon X70. The company claims that the X70 can offer up to 10Gbps download speeds and up to 3.5Gbps upload speeds.

The main new feature of the modem is that it takes advantage of Artificial Intelligence technology which supposedly improves the mmWave and sub-6GHz bands. It even has AI-based channel-state feedback and optimization algorithm that increases the average downlink and uplink speeds.

Qualcomm elaborates that it uses AI-based mmWave beam management to increase the coverage and then uses an AI-based network selection algorithm. This latest baseband chip is the first to support every commercial 5G band from 500MHz to 41GHz.

The new modem supports global 5G multi-SIM and Dual-SIM dual active.

What makes the modem even more impressive is that from the faster speeds, the modem is supposedly 60 percent more efficient because of the Qualcomm 5G PowerSave Gen3 technology.

The company also said that the QET7100 Wideband Envelope Tracking and AI-based adaptive antenna tunning can also improve power conservation, performance, and latency.

Qualcomm expects the Snapdragon X70 5G modem to arrive in 5G devices in the later part of 2022.
