The publishers surely took their time in developing the game and according to them, it will be free-to-play and available solely online. They mentioned that it will have new characters, storylines, and other content to give the players a "constantly developing experience".

It will feature cross-play and cross-progression, which means that a character will be available for use on both mobile and desktop computers.

The game's storyline is set between Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and Diablo III. The players' main objective is to find all the Fragments of the Worldstone which were spread throughout the Sanctuary after Tyrael broke the stone.
