Motorola China has just formally confirmed that the company will be releasing the first smartphone with a 200-megapixel camera.
This July!

The first with a 200MP sensor?

According to the company's teaser poster, the said device will launch this July 2022 and it will be the "new benchmark" for image experience.

Other than that, there are no other details shared about the device yet.

Based on recent leaks and rumors, the device could be called the Motorola Frontier which will highlight the Samsung-made 200MP ISOCELL HP1 f/2.2 sensor with OIS.

To recap, this image sensor is 0.64μm-sized pixels designed to bring "ultra-high" resolution images on handheld devices with ChameleonCell technology that uses a pixel-binning two-by-two at 50MP, four-by-four at 12.5MP at 2.56μm, or full pixel layout "depending on the environment". This can even do a near cropless 8K video at 30 fps.

For the rest of the specs, the device is expected to feature a curved 6.67-inch pOLED display with 144Hz refresh, 60MP selfie camera, 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, 12GB or 8GB RAM, 128GB or 256GB storage, 4,500mAh battery with USB-C 125W fast charging, 30W or 50W wireless charging, 50MP Samsung SKJN1SQ03 ultra-wide-angle, and a 12MP Sony IMX663 telephoto camera.

Take the specs list with a grain of salt for now as Motorola has yet to make the device official.

Stay tuned for more info.
