Advance Abilities x Maxicare unveils AI Smart Scanner!
Maxicare said that they have been receiving millions of patients every year. They understand the struggle of every Filipino customer who lines up for long hours just to get attended to. And even after that, patients still have to wait until the next business day or longer to get the results. The massive workload given by the ongoing pandemic is also wearing down medical professionals which stresses the need for a breakthrough advancement.

Through the partnership of Advanced Abilities and Maxicare, a first-of-its-kind medical scanning in the Philippines was achieved.

The AI Smart Scanner has an Xray like function that will identify lung complications such as pulmonary tuberculosis, emphysema, pneumonia, cancer of the lungs, and even the COVID-19. Additionally, it can also detect heart problems like enlarged heart and can also be used for mammography.

The said innovation uses machine learning and AI which can access a database of 6 million images to show results in less waiting time. The results will also be emailed to the patients within a few minutes. The device is also portable which makes it easier for the health care provider to transfer it from one branch to another.

Advanced Abilities also pointed out that it does not eliminate the need for a medical professional but rather it aids them in making the processes effective and efficient.
The AI Smart Scanner only offers a suggestion, but the final diagnostics will still depend on the Doctor, said Angelo Antonio Buendia, Advanced Abilities CEO
Christer Cruz, Chief Technology Officer also said that the technology took seven years to develop and that a combination of Japanese, Filipino and Indian developers and a partnership with the United States Agency for International Development before the product is finished.
Christer also added that the patient's personal info is safe through their highly secured system and the results emailed to the patients are also password protected and encrypted.

Currently the AI Smart Scan services are exclusive to Maxicare members only, for instance, the cheapest Prima Package costs PHP 4,999.
For availability, for now, it can only be accessed through Maxicare branches in Eton Centris at Quezon City, Ayala North Exchange in Makati, and Cebu.
The health care provider's CEO also stated that they plan to offer it to more of their branches soon.
