Globe fires up more 5G sites
In a statement, the telco said the additional sites are located in Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Bulacan, Davao, Cebu, Misamis Oriental, and Iloilo. This brings Globe 5G's coverage to 95 percent in the capital region and 84 percent in the Visayas and Mindanao.
These new builds augment both 5G outdoor and in-building solutions across the country. They also support the company’s strategy of providing 5G technology where it matters, said Marge Dizon, VP for Program Delivery in Globe’s Network Technical Group.
Globe said subscribers connected to its 5G network can enjoy internet speed 20 times faster than LTE, with fiber-fast speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
Last month, Globe reported that it bagged Ookla's Best 5G Video Experience Award in the Philippines.
The group said it would continue to beef up its network with PHP 89 billion investments allotted for this year. In 2021, it fired up over 2,000 5G outdoor sites and in-building solutions. Globe also built 1,407 new cell sites, while some 22,300 mobile sites were upgraded.
