After revealing that it has 380 new 5G sites in the country, local telco giant Globe today announced it has fired up 252 cell sites in Q1 of 2022.
New towers!

To continue its aggressive network rollout to provide better connectivity for Filipinos!

In case you are wondering why the number is lower than the 5G sites, 5G infra could be installed in several current 4G towers. This means that it could be installed in both old and new cell sites.

Anyway, the company revealed that this move brings its total cell towers to 12,194 as of end-March 2022 to provide connectivity to more Filipinos.

We want as many Filipinos to enjoy the benefits of mobile technology and have access to the Internet, even in far-flung areas. This way more people can enjoy the digital solutions that are accessible through our network and help uplift the lives of many, said Ernest Cu, Globe President and CEO.

Globe also claims that its 5G network now covers  93 percent of the population in the National Capital Region (NCR) and 80 percent of the population in Visayas and Mindanao.

Due to the telco's non-stop upgrades, the company is boasting that it has been named the most consistent Philippine mobile operator in the first quarter of the year by global analytics firm Ookla with a nationwide Consistency Score of 79.45 from January to March 2022 compared to 70.43 in the same period last year.

This year, the company allotted PHP 89 billion to continue its aggressive network rollout.
