Infinix has recently released a new contender in the under PHP 10K range., the Note 12 G96. |
Eye-catching back design |
So, let's take a look at the new Infinix Note 12 and see if it is the right one for you.
To recap, the handset features a large 6.7-inch True Color AMOLED FHD+ display. Inside is the 12nm MediaTek Helio G96 octa-core processor, Mali-G57 GPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB of storage, and 5,000mAh battery with 33W Flash charge.
At the back are a 50MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera with a quad-LED flash.
In the Philippines, the Infinix Note 12 starts at PHP 8,999 for the 8GB/128GB model.
Unboxing/Accessories
|
PUBG boxes |
Infinix and PUBG recently partnered up which resulted in the classic PUBG protagonist printed on the outer packaging of Note 12 and on the special PUBG case.
|
Box inclusions |
Inside the box are the phone, an 33W power brick, USB-A to USB-C charging cable, SIM ejector tool, and documentation. In other markets, the included case is a normal transparent silicone case but in the Philippines, it will come with a special PUBG case.
There is no included pair of earphones in the box even though the phone has a 3.5mm audio jack.
Build Quality/Design
|
Wavy pattern |
The phone is made of a combination of polycarbonate and glasstic. The glasstic back has a non-reflective texture with a wave-like pattern.
Nice glasstic back with non-reflective texture with a wave-like pattern!
This makes it less prone to fingerprint smudges and it makes the phone less slippery. The sides of the phone are flat and are sharp to the touch. Our minor comment is the device is a bit prone to fingerprint smudges. B
In between the two glasstic panels is a polycarbonate frame that has a faux metal finish.
We encourage wearing the case right away to avoid accidental slippage.
Otherwise, the phone is surprisingly thin at 7.99 mm and is super lightweight at 185 grams. This makes it a treat to carry despite the sharp edges.
|
Crispy display |
In front of the phone is an AMOLED screen with an FHD+ 2400 x 1080 with a notch on top. Above the notch is a slim earpiece. While around the panel are decently sized top and side bezels. Only the chin bezel is thicker than the rest.
There is no mention of any sort of glass protection, so avoid dropping the unit in concrete.
True Color AMOLED panel for less!
Anyway, the panel produces crispy and clear text while the images are sharp, detailed, and vibrant. Out of the box, the panel is bright enough to be readable indoors.
|
Top and bottom |
On top is a smooth surface while at the bottom is the 3.5mm audio jack, microphone port, USB-C port, and a speaker grill.
|
Left and right |
On the left of the phone are the SIM tray while on the right are the volume rocker and the power button that doubles as the fingerprint scanner.
The SIM tray can carry up to two nano SIM cards and a microSD card. Surprisingly, there is a red rubber gasket. This could mean that a phone is a limited form of water and dust resistance.
The device measures 164.57 x 76.80 x 7.99 mm and weighs 185 grams.
|
Rear cameras |
At the back of the phone is the 50MP main camera, and a 2MP depth camera with an LED flash while the notch in the front carries a 16MP sensor.
We will be trying its cameras so we can show them to you in our full review soon.

Web surfing |
With a starting price of only PHP 8,999, the Infinix Note 12 is an impressive value because of its FHD+ AMOLED panel. It may not be a high refresh rate, but very few have a capable True Color AMOLED panel that is great on the eyes for the price.
Aside from the panel, it features the reliable MediaTek Helio G96 chip that is decent even for gaming with large 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage. Yes, this is one of the rare phones with up to 256GB of internal storage at this price point
The massive 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging is a bonus and it is also impressive that it has a 50MP main rear camera and the 16MP selfie camera.
We could go on and on on how impressive it is on paper but we will have to further test this phone to see how it performs in real life.
Stay tuned for the full review coming out soon.
