What makes the new vivo X80 series the newest most exciting flagship line in the country?

5 best features of the vivo X80

1. The design and stunning display - Both the vivo X80 and X80 Pro have identical designs. The two feature a beautiful glass and metal sandwich construction consisting of a 3D curved AG glass back, premium metal frame, anti-fingerprint smudge magnet texture, and a 3D curved glass screen making the phones look more premium and more comfortable to hold.

More premium look, comfortable grip, stunning screen!

The vivo X80 Pro even has IP68 water and dust resistance and Gorilla Glass Victus protection for added durability. Meanwhile, the X80 arrived in a cool-looking Urban Blue color apart from Cosmic Black.

In front, the two are equipped with high-quality AMOLED panels. The X80 uses a 6.78-inch 3D flexible AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, FHD+ 2400 x 1080 resolution at 388 ppi. This should be more than great enough for viewing a lot of content and watching videos on the go on your phone.

The X80 Pro also has the same screen size, but it is using the top-of-the-line LTPO3 AMOLED screen w/ 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, WQHD+ 3200 x 1440 resolution at 518 ppi.

Amazing display!

This is one of the most advanced screens in the market that produces ultra-sharp and vibrant-looking pictures.

We find it to be very impressive in browsing the web, viewing the pictures we took, and many more tasks. It is also immersive for watching videos on the go due to its near borderless look and HDR10+ support makes the videos we watch have eye-popping colors.

2. Legit flagship specs - Speaking of specs, the vivo X80 series is as good and like anybody else or better. Both devices are packed with 4nm flagship chips from chip giants MediaTek and Qualcomm—the Dimensity 9000 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. These two new chips are equally powerful and generally super fast.

As a result, these phones are capable of running anything you throw at them from light tasks to very demanding applications or games.

In addition, the high-end chips of these phones are assisted by vivo V1+ imaging chip. Some of you may think that this chip is just to help its cameras perform better, but no.

Aside from images, the V1+ can also improve gaming as it can enable more games to run at 90fps or 120fps.

vivo also said that it has algorithms to optimize the CPU resource allocation, reduce heat generation, and boost overall efficiency on the Dimensity 9000. With these, it can improve the battery life by 10 percent.

The chip also has an anti-agency fluency experience of up to 36 months.

In our benchmark tests, it showed monster-like scores and it defeated nearly every other phone that we tested this year.

By the way, both phones have 12GB of fast LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. They even support Extended RAM technology that can increase its RAM size virtually by using its internal storage by up to 4GB.gma

To keep the phone cool, vivo also added an advanced type of advanced cooling system.

This is also managed by vivo's "top-class" cooling system.

3. Strong battery life, rapid charging - The two phones are also equipped with big batteries despite their slim frames. The 8.30 mm slim vivo X80 has 4,500mAh of juice while the 9.10 mm vivo X80 Pro arrived with a 4,700mAh cell.

In our actual experience with the vivo X80 Pro, the device can last a day on a single charge with 25 to 40 percent left in the tank depending on the tasks you throw at it.

This is impressive as the device has a massive display with large resolution and powerful overall hardware that usually draw more power than other phones with weaker specs.

Moreover, both vivo X80 phones has support for 80W wired fast charging.

Based on our tests, it can charge the device to 25 percent in 5 minutes, 61 percent in 15 minutes, 77 percent in 20 minutes, and it will slow down a little before reaching the 100 percent capacity to safely fully charge the device in 38 minutes.

If you have the X80 Pro, it even has support for a 50W fast wireless charging which promises to fully charge the device in just 50 minutes.

This means that you can use the phone for long number of hours without needing to waste a lot of your time waiting for it to be fully charged.

4. Massive In-Display fingerprint scanner - To those who do not know, vivo pioneered the In-Display fingerprint scanning technology on a smartphone with the X21 last 2018.

Four years later, the company introduced the Large-area ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

This fingerprint scanner has a recognition area that is 11.1x higher than older scanners.

You can even open your favorite apps with one tap from the lock screen.

We also noticed that this unlocks the phone really fast and it could be even faster than most traditional fingerprint sensors we have tried.

The vanilla X80 uses the 50MP f/1.8 IMX866 sensor from Sony which is said to be their best yet. It even has PDAF, laser AF, and OIS to help you shoot faster and more stable. Then, it is paired with the 12MP f/2.0 IMX663 ultra-wide-angle with AF + 12MP f/2.0 IMX663 Portrait camera with 2x zoom cameras.

Meanwhile, the X80 Pro is even better. It uses the custom 50MP f/1.6 GNV main sensor for vivo with a massive 1/1.3-inch sensor size allowing it to take great images in different lighting situations. This also has PDAF, laser AF, and OIS.

Then, the ultra-wide camera it is using is also a large camera sensor unlike other phones. In particular, it is the 48MP f/2.2 IMX598 ultra-wide-angle with AF.

The X80 Pro also has a 12MP f/1.9 IMX663 Portrait camera (equivalent to a 50mm portrait lens) with gimbal OIS and an 8MP f/3.4 5x periscope shooter with PDAF focus and OIS that has the ability to take up to 60x digital zoom.

The stabilization for taking up to 4K videos on this one is also quite insane for a smartphone. This even has a Night mode-like functionality for taking videos in the dark.

For selfies, the two are using a 32MP f/2.5 with plenty of filters, adjustable background blur, and different beautification modes.

Both phones also have ZEISS optics with ZEISS T* coating to help reduce ghosting and straylight while improving overall image quality.

Of course, it has plenty of software tricks including ZEISS Night Viewer, Gimbal portrait capabilities, and  ZEISS Cinematic Video Bokeh, ZEISS Cinematic Style Bokeh, AI Video Enhancement.

Then of course, both are equipped with the vivo V1+ imaging chip that helps its camera sensor take images with less noise, better low light performance, nicer portraits, XDR photo high dynamic range, and can increase the color accuracy of your photos or videos.

In our experiecne, the vivo X80 Pro has the ability to shoot some of the best images and videos you will ever see on a smartphone yet. It is great for taking photos and videos in daylight or even in the dark, the stabilization using the back cameras are really good for shooting videos, and it has a lot of modes that could help asipiring content creators do their craft well.

Our thoughts

The vivo X80 Series is truly the latest and greatest from the company yet and it proved that it could go toe-to-toe with the other heavy hitters that are even more expensive.

The company refined its designs, improved overall performance, made the charging experience better, and came up with arguably the best back camera configuration on a phone yet with the X80 Pro.

Personally, I'm super impressed with the vivo X80 Pro and this is currently my most recommended phone for those that are looking to own a high-end Android device.
