We look at the Korean firm's flagship foldable to see how it performs when equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Aside from the new 4nm octa-core processor, the Z Fold4 comes with a next-generation Adreno GPU, 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB/512GB/1TB UFS 3.1, and a 4,400mAh battery.

It has an outer 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen and a folding inner 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen. Both screens feature a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and are Gorilla Glass Victus+ protected.

In the Philippines, the Z Fold4 starts at PHP 98,990 for the 128GB model.

Let's see how it performs in a series of benchmarking apps.

The most powerful foldable yet?

AnTuTu and GeekBench scores
AnTuTu and GeekBench scores

1. AnTuTu Benchmark version 9.4.3 - The Z Fold4 managed to score over 1,013,543 in AnTuTu. During the test, the phone's temperature peaked at 37 degrees and slowly went down to 35.4 degrees. The phone also used up 5 percent of the battery while running the test.

When looking at the breakdown, the SoC also produced an impressive score of 445,121 in the GPU part of the test.

2. GeekBench Benchmark - This benchmark measures the capabilities of individual single-core and multi-core performance in one click.

The Z Fold4 scored an impressive 1,264 in single-core tests and 3,712 in multi-core tests. This means that the Z Fold4 can handle multi-tasking very well.

3. 3DMark Slingshot ExtremeThis is a demanding set of tests that measure GPU and CPU performance where the Z Fold4 scored 2,722 and an average of 16.2 fps. These are scores expected from a phone equipped with similar SoCs.

4. CPDT - This test measures the read and write speeds of the internal storage. The Z Fold4 got an average of 923.33 MB/s in sequential read speeds and an average of 253.00 MB/s in sequential write speeds. The flagship foldable can read data on the disk at nearly 1GB/s which is impressive but it can write at under 260MB/s which is not as impressive.

Quick thoughts

After running the phone through several benchmarks, it is clear that the Z Fold4's Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, LPDDR4 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage perform with varied results.

The flagship foldable performed impressively in processor and memory-related tasks while maintaining decent temperature management. Where the Z Fold4 struggled is the internal storage's sequential write speeds at just under 260MB/s.

Otherwise, the performance of the Z Fold4 is on par with what we expect from the latest technology.
