ASUS confirmed that the ROG Ally gaming handheld truly exists. This will be another Steam Deck competitor in the portable gaming category.
It came around during April Fool's day so those who saw the post did not take it seriously and many thought that "it was just another prank" from those brands since its a day of well "fooling around" and making fun and having a good laugh among their followers.
Apparently, there's also the side who believes that it looks too good to be an "April Fools joke". The entire trailer even showed models who are actually using the device and even connecting it to an eGPU dock giving you the idea that it has to be real.
Fast forward, now the brand confirmed it actually exists and they are likely trying to get community feedback from it.
Anyway, the short clip showed the handheld in an 8-side body with a wide 7-inch 1080p screen, the usual controller buttons, and 2 joysticks with RGB. At the back, it displayed extra key controls, fan grills, and even with ROG layout, and slanted LED strip.
For internals, ASUS mentioned that it uses a custom AMD APU which could probably be a 6000 series or 7000 series chip.
Other than that, the brand showed that it's compatible with the ROG XG Mobile eGPU dock in case users want a full desktop-like graphics performance.
As of this writing, there's still no information regarding its release date but ASUS left a pre-order link on their YouTube channel. Just sign up with your email and they will notify you once the product is up.
What do you guys think?
