A look at HUAWEI's top-tier production line

For mobile phone manufacturers, their production line plays a big role in ensuring that customers will receive high-quality products.

Helping HUAWEI achieve this is its Songshan Lake Device Handset Production Line. This adopts a "streamlined one-piece flow" layout and is an important part of ensuring the quality of the brand's mobile phones.

HUAWEI's Songshan Lake manufacturing base is located in Dongguan Songshan Lake High-tech Industrial Development Zone, it said. This covers the management of the whole manufacturing process, from material input to finished product output, it added.

The streamlined layout and self-developed functional testing equipment on the automated lines have made the production of Huawei's high-quality flagship products, such as the P series and Mate series, extremely efficient, the company noted.

Each line also has 15 personnel and can produce one phone EVERY 26 SECONDS.

The key production line elements, including various equipment, materials, and personnel, are connected using IoT technologies to the Manufacturing Execution System (MES). With this system, these elements can be traced throughout the production process and have their key equipment parameters managed in real-time, HUAWEI explained.

 

In addition, a three-tiered real-time visualization system issues live alerts to staff about potential risks and provide real-time visibility for quality issues, output, and production efficiency, it added.

To ensure top-tier mobile phones, HUAWEI implemented comprehensive quality management at all stages of its operations, as well as a superior management system for its production process that covers design, material input, production, and service.

Aside from this, HUAWEI also has highly automated processes that have achieved partial intelligence.

Things like our flexible assembly platform and automatic test platform, man-machine collaborative operation modes, and AI visual inspection and pressure sensing ensure our assembly, inspection, and packaging processes perform at peak quality, with every unit on the line passing quality inspections and testing, Huawei said.

Playing a big role in HUAWEI's production process its employees.

The Songshan Lake Device Handset Production Line follows the company's 'Big Rewards for Small Improvement' policy, which has been designed to encourage all employees to actively participate in continuous improvement activities, it said.

Through this, employees who have proposals for improvement and rationalization are rewarded.

For example, encouraged by such incentives, our employees independently designed unpowered vehicles which enabled the cyclic distribution of SIM cards in the production process by converting potential energy into kinetic energy, the brand shared.

HUAWEI Manufacturing also prioritizes employees' work-life balance to strengthen management systems to protect its personnel while also cultivating the flexibility to care for them.

We strictly enforce the rules of 'operation in compliance with documents, procedures, and guides, and adherence to labor discipline and process discipline' at work, motivate employees with grape chart and proposal card systems, and promote improvement among all employees, so that they can be focused on and committed to producing the best mobile phones in the world.

HUAWEI also said it prioritizes the comfort of its employees to ensure that can show their capabilities while working under the company.
