GCash is down: Assures users that their funds are safe

The Philippines' leading mobile wallet is currently inaccessible today May 9, 2023. Once you open the app, there will be a prompt stating that "G ulit later! We'll be right back!" and "They are just working on improving your experience."

We are unsure if this unannounced maintenance is due to the earlier trending social media topic claiming several GCash users have been hacked. Facebook verified account Chad Kinis and other netizens in the comment section of his post said that their funds were sent to an EastWest Banking Corporation account ending in number 5239 without their knowledge.

But, GCash said assured all of its users that their "funds are safe.

Update: Our friends from GCash told us that the app should be "up again in a few minutes." over USD 2 billion (around PHP 110 billion) with around 76 million users in the Philippines.

Recently, the company also introduced 10 new features that will make Filipino finances even easier which include GChat, GStocks, and more.
